Patient Acceptance
The Process of Joining Mandalat Halev
The process of accepting the patients is done in a warm and welcoming personal meeting with the team.
The purpose of the meeting is to learn about the needs of the person dealing with the disease and together find the most desirable and necessary surroundings for him/her and his/her family.
The Services Provided By The Assocation
Mandalat Halev is a registered volunteer association that supports those facing cancer and their families.
The patient and their family members encounter significant difficulties in all areas of life.
Based on this understanding, the organization established a set of tools, in a wide variety of fields, with the aim of facilitating the coping and well-being of the families' lives:
Body and mind treatments, which include personal meetings at the therapists' clinics, telephone support, support groups, home visits, as well as social activities, events, workshops and various classes, are all held at the association's center and other locations. We invest heavily in understanding the patient’s needs and their supportive environment. All assistance and services are provided with a warm personal attitude and at no cost.
Our volunteers are the engine that moves the organization and that is why we invest in their training, support, and professional enrichment.
Personal Stories
Ortal Sapir - family counseling and parent training
At the peak of my life, without any prior preparation, I was informed that I had cancer.
I was a 35-year-old young mother with 3 small children, who for the first time was dealing with the fear of death in such a tangible way. I quickly realized that I was going to fight with all my might. There was no other option for me - my children needed me!
Dealing with the disease brought a different perspective about myself and the world - after all I could die and then it would all be over before I really started living!
After a shocking struggle, when the body is healthy but the soul is wounded, I arrived at Mandalat Halev. I heard about them from close friends and decided to try it out. I thought to myself “what do I have to lose?” I remember the first conversation. The smile and hug I received. I felt like I had come home.
It was there that I realized for the first time that my real journey had just begun.
I received an amazing support and a real answer to my emotional needs, all this by Mandalat Halev volunteers who do everything with great love and with a real mission. Needless to say, it changed my life and empowered me after the time I went through.
I quickly realized that I wanted to "pass it on", and I asked to volunteer as a guide and accompany parents dealing with cancer.
Today this is my main occupation and thanks to Mandalat Halev I have clarified my vocation and I accompany parents who are dealing with an illness and have many challenges in addition to the usual educational dilemmas. I was there. I understand.
Thank you to Mandalat Haley for all the support and the privilege I have to give back to the community (by way of parent trainings and lectures). Thank you for creating a home for all the patients and their families. Thanks to you, it is possible to restore the body, as well as the soul.

In 2003, I was diagnosed with melanoma.
Luckily, we caught it in time. I underwent surgery and I recovered after a difficult recovery period. However, immediately after the surgery, in a follow-up CT scan, they discovered a tumor in the spinal cord that disrupted my daily routine. The tumor was removed in a very complex operation and required a long recovery period.
In 2017, a tumor was discovered in my head near my eye socket. I underwent a complicated operation and the recovery period was very challenging. After some time, I finally managed to get back to myself.
I am a giving person but during the difficult times in my life I learned how important the support around me is, how much it helps me to recover and strengthens me mentally and physically. Without this support I don't know how I would have gotten through all of this.
Today I am healthy, though I am constantly monitoring my body as it produces tumors and I have to keep my finger on the pulse. I live life happily! After everything I've been through, I have a strong need to give, to be there for other people. I looked for quite a few places to volunteer until I arrived at Mandalat Halev. I felt that I had arrived at the place that was most right for me.
I heard about Mandalat Haley from my daughter, Keren, who volunteers there. I offered to volunteer by giving body massages (which I've been doing professionally for 10 years) to those recovering and dealing with cancer.
Today I volunteer and give from the bottom of my heart to everyone who comes to me. Many women thank me but I know that I actually am the one who thanks them as they give me meaning in life. I enjoy giving and seeing how they improve and how much my giving helps them. I am here to help and contribute.
Thanks to Mandalat Haley that allows me to give unconditionally and with love to the patients. It fills my patients and me with good energy, health, and happiness.
